My passion for psychology, and career in the field, spans more than 20 years. I currently work in private practice in Benfleet in Essex. I have worked for The Priory Group, a private mental health provider, where I specilised in CBT, and I have worked in various mental health settings within the NHS including severe and enduring mental health services, community mental health services, older adult services and Learning disability and mental health services.
I established a private practice in 2006 which provides assessment and treatment tailored to individuals’ needs. My work involves helping people to overcome emotional and psychological difficulties, counselling through difficult life events and personal exploration and development.
I obtained my first degree in psychology (BSc Hons) from Middlesex University, my Masters in Counselling Psychology (MSc) and Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling Psychology (PPDip) from London Metropolitan University, and my Masters in Sport & Exercise Psychology (MSc) from Staffordshire University.
I am an Accredited EMDR (Eye Movement and Desenstisation) Practitioner with the UK EMDR Association https://emdrassociation.org.uk/
EMDR is a unique, powerful therapy that helps people recover from problems triggered by traumatic events in their lives. It stops difficult memories causing so much distress by helping the brain to reprocess them properly.
EMDR is best known for treating post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and it can also help with a range of mental health conditions in people of all ages.
And I have completed the foundation course in Clinical Hypnosis with the British Society of Clinical and Academic Hypnosis, as well as training in CBT, Mindfulness, Compassion Focused CBT, Prolonged Exposure Therapy and Solution Focused Therapy.
“There is no end to education. It is not that you read a book, pass an examination, and finish with education. The whole of life, from the moment you are born to the moment you die, is a process of learning.”
